CACELA VELHA
Cacela Velha is a small village located on the top of a hill, integrated in the Ria Formosa Natural Park in Algarve, in the south of Portugal. It is bordered by a fortress from where we have one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the eastern Algarve.
It has a long story, Cacela Velha has been occupied by numerous civilizations over the centuries, including the Romans, the Arabs and the Phoenicians who settled there to produce and market products such as olive oil, figs, dried fish and seafood…
In this charming village we find the traditional whitewashed houses with blue or yellow painted doors and windows, the 17th century fortress, the church of medieval origin and restaurants that offer us the best seafood.
Cacela Velha is also renowned for its pristine beaches including the Praia da Fábrica, this beach is a paradisiacal place. Access is by boat and when the tide is low it is possible to make the traverse on foot.
